Locum Senior Planning Lawyer – Full-Time – Remote Working – 3+ Month Contract – Up to £60 per hour (Umbrella) Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Senior Planning Lawyer to join a Local Authority on an interim basis; this is an exciting opportunity to join a reputable Authority on a locum basis.
Role Details:Role: Locum Senior Planning Lawyer
Working Arrangement: Full Time, remote working – occasional office attendance may be required for business needs
Duration: Initial 3+ months with the possibility for extension
Rate: Up to £60 per hour umbrella
Start: ASAP Start
Role Responsibilities:The successful candidate will manage a varied and complex planning caseload, providing high-quality legal support across the organisation, with duties including:
- Providing expert legal advice on a range of planning matters, both routine and complex
- Drafting and negotiating planning agreements, including Section 106 Agreements
- Advising on planning applications, enforcement matters, and associated risks
- Supporting and attending Planning Committees where required
- Advising Officers and Elected Members, including preparing reports and guidance
- Ensuring compliance with relevant planning legislation and regulatory frameworks
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent) with significant experience in Planning Law
- Proven experience working within Local Government or the public sector
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage a complex caseload independently
- Experience advising senior stakeholders, including Officers and Elected Members
